13 th November, Sant’Antioco. Once, the festival in the honour of the Martyr Saint, Patron of Atzara, was the most important festivity of the year. It is still cherished and attended by local population, gathering around its Patron Saint, during the procession along the streets of the old centre, and at the Holy Mass. The tradition to celebrate the Saint with su pane ‘ e saba is still alive: prepared on the previous days of the festival, by the women of the village, it is distributed to visitors and residents.
29 th November, Santu Andria. Traditionally, on the day of celebrations in the honour of the Saint, villagers used to meet to taste the new wine from barrels. Today, celebrations in the honour of Santu Andria have been inserted in the circuit called ‘Autunno in Barbagia’, including the event‘Cortes Apertas’.
17 th January, Sant'Antonio Abate. Sacred and profane are intermingled in this evocative festival. At dusk, villagers light up bonfires and gather around them to taste good local wine and traditional sweets.
2 nd Sunday of May, Sant'Isidoro. The traditional procession in the honour of Sant’Isidoro is coupled with the important food-and-wine show called ‘Sagra del Vino’ (Wine Fair). The Saint is accompanied along the streets of the old centre, onto a traditional ox-cart, by groups wearing the most beautiful costumes of Sardinia.
20 th January, San Sebastiano. Religious and civil rites alternate on this day, with bonfires brightening up the cold nights of January.

rd August, Santa Maria de Josso. On the 8
th September,
Santa Maria de susu, with religious and civil celebrations, is absolutely interesting; the
Holy Mass is followed by typical dancing and tasting of local food, offered by the organizing
committee.
